Michael Mingee
Commissioner Mingee (Mike) is a retired Chief Fire Officer after a 40-year career. Mike and his wife Cheryl, an Oncology Nurse with Olympic Medical Center, have lived on the Olympic Peninsula for 11-years. They have three adult children and three grandchildren. Mike enjoys saltwater fishing, alpine skiing and exploring all the Olympic Peninsula has to offer.
Previously, Mike was the Fire Chief City of Port Townsend and East Jefferson Fire Rescue. Current Fire Service Management and Leadership Instructor for the United States Fire Administration, as well as the Washington State and California State Fire Marshal’s Office. For the past 5 years, he served as the Volunteer Fire Lieutenant with Clallam County Fire District No. 3 at Diamond Point. Mike also volunteers with the Olympic National Park as a National Ski Patroller at Hurricane Ridge. He possess a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and a Masters Certificate in Labor/Management Relations.
During his time as a Fire District No. 3 resident and volunteer, he gained great respect for the members of the Fire District who serve selflessly every day to serve the community; their skills and abilities are second to none.
While thisFire District provides exceptional service, he believes it is currently challenged by the District’s rapid growth, calls for service, and customer demographics. Presently, theFire District responds to nearly 9000 calls for service each year, and that number stands to rise. Mike finds it an honor to be asked to put to work his experience in Fire Service leadership to assist in guiding this Excellent Fire District to it’s future. Mike was elected to the Board in 2024 and his current term will expire in 2029.
